Conejo Valley ARC not on the list but it has been in the past.

Most of my effort was search and pounce, but lots of activity due to the number of CA stations operating. Was able to work a few CA on 15m CW/SSB for a short opening Sunday afternoon as I checked the bands many times to find any openings on 10m/15m. Wish I had stayed awake operating later Saturday night to get a few more 80m QSOs in the log. Did not hear any 160m CA stations in the time I was awake Saturday night. Nothing on 160m Sunday morning. I ran LOW power category and sometimes had to call many times since I was not able to overcome the high power gurus. Lacked 5 stations from having a clean county sweep. I am hoping to make more of an effort in coming years. Thanks CA folks for hosting this party and all of the QSOs - this was fun, but might have been better if propagation had been there on high bands.
AC6YY
I submit "check Log" only.
AC6ZM
Great participation from California stations. Missed the clean sweep but I was not disappointed with my result.
AC8JF
Plenty of weak-ish signals found, but not a great day for 100 watts and a wire.

I spent an hour and a half in the contest over two days on a single band. The adrenaline was pumping and I enjoyed the time. I stopped on the first day when the grand kids came for a visit in the afternoon.

Band condx were not very good. Most CA stations were S2 to S7 here in NE Ohio, no matter what the band. Thank goodness for sharp, sensitive receivers, DSP and ops with good ears!

California QSO party belongs to the "big parties". Thatswhy I expected to makeat least 100 QSOs or more. The party started with a huge number of Californianstations on 20m CW. But after about a hour or so the band closed. How bad must propagation be that 1/3 of the stations called answered my callwith countinuous CQ ? Or is it the increasing man made noise in the cities ?40m was hopeless to break through the calling US stations even a good numberof W6??s could be heard. The "Golden ears" award goes to K6S and K6Q forhearing my weak signal through the US curtain. Soon after I gave up for the night.Worked a few stations on Sunday between 14 and 16z but when the signals disapperedagain it was the end of the QSO party for me.

Another fun CA QSO party I hope to do better next year.

Once again I repeat my plea to make it possible to enter by mode as well as power levels, e.g. CW only, SSB only. There are a lot of CW only entries and we lose out because there is no mode entry. Also, no problem working the SEQUOIA letters but what do I do with the left-over ones, e.g. "F", "G", "M", etc.? TNX for holding the contest even under distres situation. Nice to have 15M open on Sun but still no 10M. Maybe next year will be better.

Nearly as much activity at times as a major contest. Many pileups. However, propagation between Florida and California was poor and most stations were weak.
K4SO
Thanks to the organizers. Many big signals and great ops.
K4VBM
The bands were quite noisy - really bad at times, and the QSB was also bad making phone QSOs difficult at best. But there were some good times that helped. I actually got one less multiplier than last year - I heard some mults on 20m SSB but they couldn't hear me. Made quite a few more QSOs this year in spite of the band condx. Heard HI and AK working. CW was the money mode due to conditions, but I did make a decent number of Phone contacts on 20m. I managed to spell 'SEQUOIA' and snagged quite a few of the 1x1 stations. Checked 15m and 10m a few times, but totally dead bands. Heard many familiar calls working the CA stations. My best score ever for this one.Great fun as always!

Band conditions were very difficult, big props to all stations that pulled our peanut-whistle signal out of the noise.
K6RB
First opportunity to test out new antenna system. It worked.
K6RM
Fun as usual but QRP with my attic antennas was more challenging than I anticipated. Only gripe is hearing (usually CA) stations asked for a repeat MANY (4+) times and failing to slow down their responding cw speed. Thanks for the Q's, I KNOW you had to earn them with my peanut-whistle sig!

I was planning to operate CQP locally at my remote station in theCalifornia high desert, but ended up driving home before the contest as I was feeling poorly. Worked the whole thing remotely with many breaks. I managed to do better than my single op tries in the previous 2 years, I expect because conditions were good and activity was high. Tried operating a little SSB, but its too hard to run stations with my particular setup on SSB. Had several great CW runs. No one from North Dakota or NT, so I missed 2 multipliers.I hear I have a chirp on 80m, thats new. Using a K3, will have to look into it.Great contest, lots of activity, with some big QSO counts from stations outside of California too. Thanks for the contacts. dana

First time I've actually made some effort in this one--lots of activity, but 20 Phone definitely is no place for low power! Missed VY1CO early, it seems. Enjoyed my first outing in CQP after all these years of living here. Put up sloping wires for 40 and 80 the day before the contest, and they worked well enough to give my tribander a break at night. I even worked a few dozen Qs on 160 using the 80-meter wire! Too bad I missed VY1CO when he was on early, but other mults came through OK.
K7NG
Tried harder but scored lower this year. I'll blame it on conditions...
K7NWR

?It was the best of times, it was the worst of times?? It was the California QSO Party, 2020 version. Hoping for lots and lots of contacts, I was surprised how dupes quickly filled the bandmap! I was expecting to find a lot more activity than I did. On Saturday morning, there were too few stations to work on 40m and the same on 20m. NM is in between the two skip zones as noted by KA6BIM in OR on Sunday as he lamented similarly. When 20m opened up from NM to CA, the bandmap got a lot livelier! The same was true as the afternoon wore on and them 80m opened up. Still, after a 30-minute sweep through any band, it was slim pickings. I thought much of CA was stuck at home. I hope it gets better for you guys and the rest of us! For this event, fewer non-CA ops answered my ?CQ CA? calls than similar calls in previous parties this year. Three ops answered my last-minute attempt to work AA6W, my last contact. I sent his call four times and others still kept calling. Then he faded away and the others left. Patiently, Don returned and we squeezed out the contact. Unfortunately, I could have worked the other callers if they had only listened! For the CA ops, please learn and use your four-letter county abbreviations on SSB! I didn?t operate the entire contest as I got bored with no new stations to work and no responses to my CQ?s. It was fun (the best of times) while it lasted. Getting SEQUOIA was easy and the many 1x1?s were abundant and, like Chicken Man, everywhere. Can we move CA a little farther away? It is just too darned close for 10-20 mtrs. When the Oceania DX contest ended I went to the low bands and was able to work the few stations that were still up to midnight, On Saturday mid dayI worked 200 stations on 40 SSB. On Su day. I started out with 40, ran out of stations then went to 20 to beat my head against the wall. Managed a few cw stations and fewer SSB. Went back to 40 and finished the contest. Seems like fewer stations on. Did the fires cause that?

I believe the error code is correct, as I seem to remember noting the time as I entered it from my written log.

I competed in this contest once back in the 90's but never submitted a log that I can recall. I was absent from the hobby for about 20 years until a few months ago when I purchased a 2nd hand TS-940, put up a 40M horizontal Delta Loop at about 15 feet and a G5RV at about the same height in preparation for the CQP. I missed making the 100 QSO requirement for the "New Contester" award but that's ok. I had the best time I've had in years! Not bad for an old man with low antennas, low power, and over 20 years away from the hobby. Many thanks to all the OP's that make this event happen! Looking forward to next year!
KR2Q
Thanks for the reminder to send in my log. I didn't even remember making any QSOs.

Operated Multi-Single with my 8 year old son who worked a few QSO's and logged contacts while observing the CW decode on the screen. My 8 year old son, Max (3rd grade, no callsign) got in on the action by logging a few q's by observing the CW decode on the screen of the FTDX-101MP and knowing when to send the exchange and log the QSO with a little help from Dad!

A last minute physical distancing QRP portable county expedition. KX3 @5 watts, 59' wire between two 20' fishing poles, 80' wire between 30' and 20' poles. Pen and paper logging. Except for CQmessage all CW was hand sent with the bolt-on KXPD3 paddle. My thanks to Kurt, W6PH, for the use of his Inyo county cabingrounds for my station. I had a wonderful view of Mt. Whitney andsurrounding range from my patio table operating position.Mults never heard were KY, IA, ND, MR, AB, NT. I did copy a VE2answering somebody's CQ, a VA7 was in a rag chew and W1XX was CQingon 20 SSB Sunday afternoon but couldn't hear me. Working the singleletter CA stations for the SEQUOIA award was accomplished on 80. 40was too long Saturday night and I was inaudible to CA stations on20 and 15.QSO #44 with K9NW may not be complete. It was not clear he copiedmy exchange. QSO #186 was first sent to K3UA (80 meters!) and I copied hisexchange. But the timing seemed off and I thought he might beworking someone else despite my frequency being clear. So I gave#186 to the next station that called, N6MA. Not the best spur ofthe moment decision in hind sight. Phil did hear me! I was thinkingmy 5 watts and low wire couldn't be making it to PA on 80!Though I spent a long time transcribing an accurate log there maystill be errors. Apologies to anyone who loses points for any ofmy errors. Thanks to the CQP organizers for another great QSO party! My thanks to Kurt, W6PH, for the use of his Inyo county cabin grounds for my last minute Covid-19 physical distancing county expedition. Operating with Mt. Whitney in view was a wonderful bonus! The station was a KX3 @5 watts powered by a 27T AGM battery which used to live in a TV ENG truck. 80' of wire was stretched between a 30' Spiderbeam pole and a 20' fishing pole for 80 meters. For 40, 20 and 15 meters a 59' wire was supported by two 20' fishing poles. Both antennas were end fed via a double banana to BNC connector and tuned with the KX3 tuner.I set up on an outdoor table with a beach umbrella for shade. It was in the 90s and windy both days, low 60s Saturday night.I never heard KY, IA, ND, MR, AB, NT. A VE2 answered somebody's CQ, a VA7 was in a rag chew and W1XX was CQing on 20 SSB Sunday afternoon, but couldn't hear me. Working the single letter CA stations for the SEQUOIA award was accomplished on 80. 40 was too long Saturday night and I was inaudible to CA stations on 20 and 15.It was fun to activate Inyo county on CW. Except for CQs all sending was done with the bolt-on KXPD3 paddle. Logging was with pen and paper, transcription pending. Thanks to the NCCC organizers for pulling off the CQP in this most unusual of years, and thanks for the QSOs.73,David N6AN

The times are approximate. I remember the time range only.

Had antenna problems until Sunday morning; was then able to get on in the contest.
N6GHZ
Had a hard time fitting in among all the "big guns" since I was justusing wire dipoles (and probably not in the best orientation). Resorted toS&P operation. 80 and 40 were very noisy. 15 not open. 20 was the good one.But I had a real good time except for getting up at 3 AM Sunday to only make 3contacts from then until 7:30 AM. I'll know better next time. A BIG thanks tothe organizers...

There will be two qsos logged by other stations who will show N6YEU in their log but not mine. Both were in MT and got my exchange but due to operator error on my part both were accidentally deleted. I tried to make a note on the qso numbers but seem to have misplaced it. I hope they get credit.

My N3FJP software for this event is indicating 8.5 hours of Op time, which I agree with. I don't know why the cabrillo log checking "Robot" is not liking that bit of data, so will let you folks figure it out, if relevant. I did notice, (and I removed) the period that was appearing directly following the WY in the LOCATION: header line. Please note that I worked the following stations for "SEQUOIA": K6S,W6S,N6S,K6E,W6E,K6Q,N6Q,W6U,K6U,K6O,N6O,N6I,W6I,N6A,K6A, and W6A. 73, N7MZW

Found Alpine and Butte this year. Still four counties missing, tho I heard at least two of them. Where does everyone go after midnite on Saturday?
N7VS
Thank you for hosting an interesting. Having lived in California for many years I have always enjoyed this one. Perhaps someday I can do another expedition. I especially enjoyed looking for "Sequoia" stations during the contest. Conditions on 20 meters were not good. Made only one contact on that band and none on 15 or 10. I hope to be back next year. Hopefully band conditions will be better.73,Steve Brandt N7VS

Pretty good conditions on 20, 40 and 80. 15 opened about an hour a day here. It went from no signals to good signals in a couple of minutes and then stayed open for about an hour and went to no signals. Same on Sunday. Thanks to the mobiles for the mults.
N8II
Best condx I can remember on 40 and 80. 15 was wide open 1640-1845Z Sunday. 20 was a bit rough, signals dropped early Saturday, opened slowly Sunday. My last new mult was before 20M closed Saturday, no new mults on low bands or Sunday.

This is my favorite contest before the Sweepstakes to make sure all the bugs are worked out of my station! If I can get right through to California then I know all is well.
NC6K
Well, this beat my previous record by 25%, but it's noteven likely to get me a bottle of wine this year. Thecompetition has become brutal here, so personal records areabout all I can hope for with one SteppIR and wire antennasfor everything else, including the 2nd SO2Rradio.Conditions were fantastic onthe open bands - low noise, fairly steady signals andplenty of room even on SSB. 15 M wasn't open much, butthere were some short periods where the East Coast was inand loud. I could not find ND and NTunassisted, so settled for 56 mults, but I can't complain.I must have worked every New England state at least fivetimes, which again is a record for me. Even DE was easy toget multiple times. Thanks to all forthe Qs and see you again next year!73de NC6K
NC6V
Fun contest again, thank you to everyone that contacted me. I can't wait until next year's contest.
ND0C
Good activity but didn't hear 11 counties in the 7 hours I was on. Was fun to get back into the CQP - I've missed several of the last few years due to family activities/events. Good activity but I was really hurting on counties - just heard (and worked) 47 counties.

Note to log checker: I inadvertently sent serial number 23 twice. I worked W6S, then checked them off my checklist and tuned the rig without logging the QSO (N1MM cleared the QSO data), then went on and worked W6I and gave him the same number.

Just worked 40 and 80. Nothing heard on 20 or above. Too close. Thanks for organizing this popular contest.

Been off the air since 1997 and just now getting back into the hobby and my first contest in many years. Thanks for the assist with the fill in list for the contacts as I don't have any logging software as yet. Will do it again next year and hope to do better. Don't think I will win any awards but I did try to get as many as I could! Thanks much. 73's John / NL7WA...Retired U.S. Coast Guard...Communications Officer...need to catch up....

First time back on the air in at least 5 years and maybe 10 for a contest. Fun time despite the humbling experience of 100 watts and s T2FD dipole at 25' even if it IS a fairly rare county. But, I worked out the bugs for using the Icom RS-BA1/RC-28 along with WriteLog remote in preperation for getting the station operational. SSB would be a LOT easier if everybody would give the four letter multiplier for their county. The big surprise is more CW then SSB when my declaration was SSB! S&P worked for me.I gave up around midnight (7:00 UTC) and woke some thing woke me up about 4 hours later. Turned out Murphy bit with a power failure at 10:20 UTC that lasted 8+ hours. The operating position in the house is on a UPS and then automatic whole house generator moments later, but the station is manual transfer. The remote Icom and WriteLog servers were not happy with a dirty disconnect and instead of my waking up and sitting back in the saddle for an easy ride with a cup of coffee, it was off to busting broncos! But it was a good shakedown. Sorry for the paltry Q total.

The California Qso Party is always fun with many participants. Great CW operators. Thanks for the contacts.

Surprised more SSB stations did not use phonetics for county abbreviations. I had to ask for clarification on about 20% of the SSB stations I worked. If I was running in CQP from CA, I would this consider this an impediment as it slows down the QSO rate. In many instances, the number of syllables in the county phonetics is almost as long as saying the county name itself. Maybe the are doing this to try and attract more attention from the CQP county sweep hunters. - NP2X

257th line is from W4FLL who was out of state. He sent me an email last night that he didn't know it was for CA only; even though I was CQing for CA only. Of course he is from Nevada. So, I unknowingly logged it thinking he was in Nevada county. I tried putting the X at the beginning of his Cabrillo line, but your log portal didn't like that. I would've removed it, but wasn't sure if allowed. Plus you'd see a skip in s/n. :) ~ Val

From the beginning of the QP the band was full of W6 stations with some weak and some really nice signals. It was so hard job the break the USA pileup especially on SSB and many times when nobody called the W6's they're don't heard me. I lost so many time with calling and missed so many stations who I heard. At 19:22Z closed the band to the West Coast but at 20:45 opened again and I made 2 QSO. W6CQP I called maybe 2-3 hours totally, but no luck even when any other station don't called him. Usually in all QP I heard in the pileups John N6MU, but this time he missed from my LOG :( K6AQL/M was not strong but usually when USA wall dropped down back to me to my 1st call - FB ears. I love this event. Reminds me of my mobile effort in the CQP back in the 1990s (I was K8HVT then).I didn't realize that there was no CW or SSB category or single band categories. I realize it's more work, but it sure makes the contest more fun for the out-of-state ops.

Mono County Expedition W6ML (W6KC Operator)Fortunately, the smoke from the California fires let up on the Wednesday before CQP so I could launch my wire antennas in the mostly clear blue skies in Mammoth Lakes, Mono County. This year again I used dipoles for 40, 20 and 15 plus an inverted V for 80. They were all squeezed in at about 60ft between my two favorite pine trees. In spite of a couple of Murphy visits (RFI in my logging PC and tripping the master circuit breaker causing a power outage during a nice CQP run) I achieved one of my goals in making 1,000 CW QSOs. I have never made 1,000 CW QSOs in any contest so it was good to finally tick off a new milestone. The good participation helped offset missing 10M and most of 15M during the weekend. I missed NT and ND for the sweep, but was happy to achieve good results with a full-time effort minus about two hours for Murphy. And many thanks to the NCCC for sponsoring another great CQP! And also thanks to Hank, W6SX (we are about one-half mile apart in Mammoth) for helping me with my antenna planning and sharing the bands during CQP.K3s, KAT500, AL80B, wire antennas

Good fun! Finally broke 100 QSOs.

Expedition to IMPERIAL County, CA. It was appropriate for a bunch of Arizona Outlaws to be assigned the call W6O as part of the SEQUOIA event in the 2020 California QSO Party. We were W6Outlaws! We had a crew of good operators and experienced some huge pileups and great QSO Rates for most of the contest except between 0600Z to 1200Z when the East Coasters were sleeping. We operated out of an apartment in Felicity, California which several Geographical Societies have proclaimed to be the Official Center of the World. I would like to thank our hosts Jacques-Andres and Felicia Istel for their great hospitality. If you want a good read, look up Jacques-Andres Istel on Wikipedia. It is truly an amazing story. We had a great time!K3 / KPA1500A3S with 40 meter add-on dipole80 meter inverted VAB-577 (Rocket Launcher) 50 foot Military Surplus Mast

Putting together a MM County Operation in 2020 was as rewarding as it was challenging. Now if we could have found those darn Canada mults! Planning a MM County Operation in 2020 was as rewarding as it was challenging. Overall it was 200% fun. If only we could have worked those missing Canadian mults! Thank you NCCC for the honor of hosting W6Q

Biggest effort that I've put into CQP. Lots of fun sorting out signal reports, leading zeroes, cut leading zeroes, and other "noise". I hoped nobody would give me their number as 599 but sure enough, somebody did. I had to scramble to get it in there before he started repeating everything. A good time!

This was my first experience in CQP as an Expedition station. It was a lot of fun. It gave me a newfound appreciation for those who do annual Expeditions to the rare counties. Many thanks to Dean N6DE, Glen W6GJB, and Ken K6MR for their recommendations and for their encouragement.
W6TCP
Exceeded my expectations by a huge margin! Managed a sweep for the first time!Thank you to all the KB'ers for the points! And to the CQP team for anothergreat party! Thanks to Denny KX7M, Oliver W6NV (who was also kind enough to let me loose at his station)!

I tried to eliminate confusion between W6 "TK" and W/K/N6 "Q" by inserting extra spacing between "T" and "K" in my call. But then people thought my call was W6T. Anyway - I had about 100 dupes as guys kept calling me back to try to make sure to get the "Q" in their logs. I hope this doesn't screw other guys logs. My effort to help may have not worked so well? Thanks for all you guys and your efforts in CQP! 73 - Dick - W6TKPS -I was able to get the SteppIR working again, but looked like Bill, K6ZFO, had good time with W6I.

Great activity! Quite different than contesting from WA. Even with an indoor inv. vee in the attic, the EU's were sometimes overwhelming.

Always fun to work this one after 80 opens up so we can hear the CA stations. Just too close in Coos Bay. 73Tom W7WHy

(NOTE: Due to "cockpit problems" with software, sent two #22s and lost KM4HI's number to me in otherwise good exchange. My #7, subsequently deleted, was QSO of KM4HI, his #12, with another station. My log data contains two known "dupes.")

Hope this is correct now.

Spoke with Bobby on the phone. (318) 464-5643 He does not have access to the internet, and has NO email address. He snail mailed me his handwritten log which looked fine. Only 37 QSOs. I used the Cab Form to input the data and will submit the log on his behalf. 10/22. 73, John, K6MM

N6DE received ADIF from WB6RLC with no serial numbers.N6DE filled in dummy TX and RX serial numbers.Designate this log as checklog. It's clear from reverse logs that WB6RLC made upfake serial numbers off the top of his head when making QSOs.So stations should not be penalized for serial number mismatchwith WB6RLC. County, callsign, mode and frequency should be OK. N6DE 10/27 comments: resubmitted with 9999 as TX and RX serial number.

Only on part time, wished I had more time for a better score, notmuch better than the last time 2018 :(( Anyway got some cw Q's,using CW Get to help. Mostly 20m daytime, only 2 on 40mand none on 80m. No prop here from the west, 40m & 80m mostly dead in evening.

Another "both sides now" contesting experience as I op'ed from boththe N6O@N6RO M/M (remote...80/75m) and from my modest home station.Wasn't sure how much/if I was going to operate from home, but it's been over 10years since I did CQP from home and I was curious how it would play. So Iarbitrarily committed to 250-499 CW and 100-249 phone QSOs on the webregistration... and that motivated me to keep going (especially on phone). Iwas also motivated by trying to break the record for ALAM SOHP(A), which I thinkI accomplished. As my N6O shift was 0000-0800, my home effort has limited 40 and no 80/160. Fromhome, some good runs/moments (even on phone)...and some slow slog times: 20m wasmediocre with deep QSB, and more than a couple "SRI NIL TRY LATER"QSOs. 40m was better. 15m had a brief life here near noon on Sunday. Lots ofSO2V using IC-7610 w/PW-1, low roof-mounted KT34A, ground-mounted HF2V. Hadusual home RFI problems, but family (mostly) tolerated the bathroom fan, washingmachine, and computers going nuts. Missed only ND and NT.As for N6O, lots of fun doing dual mode SO2R on Flex 6600M. Remote workedflawlessly.Nice to work so many friends, near and far. My callsign recognition is slowlyimproving. Thanks to the CQP organizers for doing a great job on this contest.
