Tnx for all the contacts - 73 Don
AB2IO
TU 4 GREAT SUPPORT ON AIR OF ALL OPERATORS IN CA!
AB2TC
Good party as always
AB4LX
made lots of QSOs with very little antenna. Need to get my 80m loop up! I made a LOT of QSOs in between activities this weekend, surprised that I worked that many counties--next year hopefully I'll have better antennas for the lower bands! (using my 12/17/30m coax trap dipole as a longwire--shield only) lol!
AB4VT
Unexpectedly had the opportunity to work some more contacts in the last 2 hours of contest.
AC5O
Great QSO Party!!! Looking forward to next year.73 de AC5O Jeff
AD1C
Missed Siskyou and Mendocino this year.
AD6GI
Tnx to your patience with my QRP and rusty operating. Hope to cu at 2016 CQP. Thanks for your teams dedication.
AD8J
Mostly strong signals out of CA. Managed 6 hours on Saturday but had to pass on Sunday.
AE0EE
We operated field-day style from a local park on Sunday, beginning our setup around 1730z and operating through the end of the contest. For antennas we had a 20 m dipole and an 80 m OCF-dipole hung from a portable tower at 35'. Although we hoped to have QSOs on 10 m, we didn't hear any California stations (though AE0EE worked some new DXCC entities/bands). We had great weather for portable operating, and it was a lot of fun as usual.
AE6XC
great contest as always
AF6GA
Great contest! Any chance of a CW only section?73,Phil
AG6TS
First weekend on new flagpole antenna.
AG6V
First two QSOs sent WA for state, all other QSOs sent NY. Remote operation in two locations. Thus CHECKLOG. Thanks for the fun!
AI4DB
Propagation was tough in west Tennessee. Not as many contacts as last year but still had fun.
AI6CU
This was a great experience for my first contest!I appreciate the number of ops willing to slow down their CW for me.The GOLD RUSH coin was a fantastic goal to strive for. :)73Tom
AI6DO
KX3 + KXPA100 @ 5 to 40W to a fan dipole antenna at 20 ft in attic.A disappointing first entry in the CQP and the LP power category.I was excited to hit this contest with the new amp and N1MM set upso I'd be GTG to run with a better QSO rate than S&P. Nothing doing!Operating QRP with an attic antenna, I normally can work most CQers Ican copy. But with 20W, I got called many times by folks too faintfor me to copy, and had many QSOs busted by intermittent QRN and QSB.Also had N1MM frequently switch to Run mode from S&P in the middle ofa QSO, which caused me to accidentally send the "TU...CQ" messageinstead of the "TU exchange" message. If one of those was you, sorry! If that weren't enough, using more than 20W on 20M disrupted our Wi-fi,which wasn't appreciated by the XYL or kid. Time to go to town with theferrites and look into an antenna upgrade. Thanks for the QSOs!
AI6IN
The 50th running of the CQP. What better way to celebrate 50 years ofhamming! My favorite contest. This is my 50th year of hamming. Timed perfectly with the 50th running of the CQP! Thanks for a very fun time!
AI6KG
First time at this. If I screwed it up,apologies.
AK6Y
Had a great time getting back into the swing of things. I decided to take this year off for the most part from the hobby because the ARRL Cent. QSO Party took a lot out of me last year. Glad to be back.Eric ~AK6Y~
AK7O
Sadly the conditions from CA to UT were poor. Nor did i have sufficient time to make up the difference.
AL9A
Wish conditions had been better from AK, but think I made the GOLDRUSH award. Thanks for the fun.
DF2RG
It's a shame that condx were this bad during CQP this year. The previous weekend, I worked numberous west coast stations, but during CQP, the bands were "kaputt".Best regards to all, 73 de Gary, DF2RG/W6 in 2009, and enjoyed every minute that time ...
DJ9AO
too bad condx were super bad from EU this year, missed the necessary QSOs for the coin :(

While CA is beset by a major drought, this area of SC has been deluged with rain. Since last Thu, we have had over a foot of rain with another half-foot likely by the time the rain ends on Mon night. I wish I could send some of this stuff out west. I thought I was smart when I buried my feedlines into the house but now it is coming back to haunt me. With all the rain, the water level has risen substantially and now the water is going into my feedline conduit. I lost the 15m antenna and will probably lose some more before this ends. I planned on operating SO(A) but could never get the internet to work so had to go unassisted. Such is life. Thanks to all who worked my little signal coming from wirs in low trees.
K2ZR
I always enjoy the CQP. Thanks for a great QSO Party.Someday I'll find those 8 or so counties I seem to miss.73,Dick, K2ZR

Thanks for another fine contest. Higher bands worse than last year. Lower bands much better than last year. Got the sweep with a QSO with K6Q/M on 80M at 0727Z. 73, John, K4BAI.

This was a very enjoyable contest. With all the rain we had going onhere in South Carolina, I couldn't spend the full time on it, but Idid enjoy the time I was on. Most of my contacts were from 15m onSaturday and 20m on Sunday. I never found any on 10, but I did hearabout it opening up. The GOLD RUSH is a great idea! Please do it again. I had trouble getting my "D", but then I got two of them.Didn't make the 150 Q's though, but next year I will! Thanks to allwho I contacted and were patient pulling my little signal out of thenoise. Also, kudos to those who had the numbers in the thousands!Amazing, and a bar to try to reach!73 This was a very enjoyable contest. Terrible propagation on Saturday but Saturday night I made an 80M verticaloutof stuff I had laying around, and it worked great. My first time on 80 everfrom my tiny, HOA controlled QTH.Also my last time contesting in CA - N1DID will be moving to 1 land onWednesday. I will miss you all!
K6EI
We had to drop our tower and disconnect our radios shortly after dark because of thunder storms. We didn't get the tower back up until we could do it safely in daylight. Thunder storms in the area just after dark made us lower our tower and disconnect the radios. When they had passes it was too dark to raise the tower again with all the attached wire dipoles. We raised it in the morning, but didn't have our best antennas for the night shift.

Tnx for Gold Rush event stations!

Sunday morning I still needed NE ant NT but never heard either one all weekend so it was another 56-muilt year. One highlight was finding 10m open on Sunday morning. It only lasted about 30 minutes, but I had a great rate while it lasted. The rest of Sunday was a challenge...I just kept making band and mode changes trying to get new stations logged.I really enjoyed being one of the Gold Rush 1x1 stations and it was nice towork 20 of the other 23 Gold Rush stations. Thanks to all for another excellent CQP!73, Jim K6H/W6KC

Murphy's visit this year was in the form of gusty winds that broke the superstrong Spiderbeam fiberglass pole that was not superstrong. We had worked several months designing and building a nice vertical dipole for 80M using the pole on top of surplus army mast sections. The pole was advertised as having crossed fibers for extra strength with 2mm wall thickness, and were advertised as surviving 120 km/hr winds. W6GJB, mechanical aero engineer who works in the space program, says the one they shipped to us broke because it did NOT have crossed fibers, and walls were not 2mm thick. Wind gusts were in the range of 35-45 mph, well below the advertised survival. So we punted, quickly rigging an 80M inverted V on W6GJB's 42 ft pneumatic mast, which yielded 322 80/75M Qs.Murphy hit us again with generators. We had one for each of the three K3/KPA500 stations -- two 2000i and one bigger 3500. We usually run one station on a 2000i in Economode, and figured that we could certainly run one from the 3500. Wrong! The 3500 ran the compressor for the pneumatic mast (until it died in the wee hours of Sunday morning), but it wouldn't run a KPA500! So we switched one of the 2000i generators to full power mode and ran both CW stations on it. That worked fine with the stations running full power on 80 and 40, but had to back the power down to 300W (or even 250W) to keep the KPAs from faulting insufficient enough HV. We tried everything -- bigger shorter power cables from the generator, changing the transformer tap on the KPA, but nothing solved it. We got to the middle tap, which put the key-up voltage around 82VDC -- going to the highest voltage tap would have made the amps fault from that voltage being to high. The 40M/20M combo worked better, and we could get closer to full power on both stations.Anecdotal reports on the reflector after the contest were that conditions on 15 and 10 were worse for the more northerly stations. We would agree with that -- 10M openings were weak and short, 15M was better, but still weak, and closed early. All in all, a weekend that was both fun and challenging. And a perfect ending -- we'd been stuck at 57 mults since mid-Saturday evening, needing only NE for the sweep. In the last minute, N6RNO reeled in K0ITC on 20M SSB, the last Q in our log! Rhino is going to awfully hard to live with!

We had a fantastic team this year in San Benito at K6N. We started strong and ended strong. We did experience propagation issues Saturday afternoon into the evening, also extremely high gusty winds (25-35mph) that played havoc with some of our antennas. But they all survived and our dedicated operators continued on into the night. We had a ver strong effort and made a number of new friends in the process. We missed Vermont for a sweep on the mults but we will get???em next year! We had a fantastic team this year in San Benito at K6N. We started strong and ended strong. 2015 CQP - I'm SO excited that I was able to earn the 50th anniversary coin! I've been looking forward to this for months! This was FUN! I can't wait to receive that coin. I pushed myself a lot further than I should have but I REALLY wanted that beautiful coin! I know that sounds crazy with only 154 contacts but my disabilities make that kind of time painful.

Saturday was exciting, Sundaywas slow except for a briefopening of 10-meters. Enjoyed theQSO party. Saturday no time to hydrate, stations kept coming, 15-meters blew wide open, had a great day. Sunday was slower but a 10-meter opening made the wait exciting. Too old to compete, just sat, tuned, heard, and worked. Got plenty of 1X1 calls.

I don't think this any attempt to cheat, however, I do have the audio recordings and the email on file if needed.I worked ALL of the Gold Rush stations except for K6D that I think was a no-show.

Vey strong winds caused me to qrt at 7:40 p.m. and I did not get back on the air again due to safety con.cerns Due to what felt like "hurricane force" winds I was forced to qrt just before 8:00 p.m.Saturday night and abandon the site to seek shelter from the strong winds. I feared the tower and antennas would come down and did not want to risk myself or my vehicle. I found a spot lower down the mountain somewhat out of the wind and attempted to sleep in the back of my pop up camper. At daybreak I returned to the qth and was happy to see the tower and antennas had survived. My friend who came along to help set up and then go hunting had his tent blown down and tent poles bent. Not knowing if the high winds would return I decided to dismantle my "field day style" operation and return home. My apologies to those who never got Trinity for a mult. I would have been there till the end of the contest had I felt it would be safe. I did work 49 mults but ME,SC,UT,WY,ND,NE,MR,QC and NT might have ended up needing TRIN.

Missed six counties in a bit over 8 hrs of op time: GLEN, MEND, NAPA, PLAC, SFRA, & SISK. Had hoped the sweep would have been within closer reach this 50th anniv. of CQP...alas, band conditions and activity from the rare counties did not cooperate! The "rush for the gold" (coin) was fun and a nice idea. Good activity from the GOLDRUSH stations -- worked all eight letters well before the required 150 QSO plateau. Have never worked so many 1x1 callsigns in any single radio event -- there were lots this CQP!

Started out by looking for my close friends (which doesn't take very long, believe me), then -- just like eating peanuts -- decided to get at least one complete GOLD RUSH set. Well, shucks, what good is a GOLD RUSH combo without another 142 QSOs for a memento?!!! That wasn't so hard, once I figured out how to make my rig work on phone. Finally, some time Sunday afternoon, I decided I'd keep going long enough to catch up with my good friend and township "neighbor" K4ORD, who always does a bang-up job with low power. CQP 2015 was full of surprises from Twain Harte (Tuolumne county). We ran as a Multi-2 using an Elecraft K2 and a SUNSDR2 SDR transciever into a TH3-Jr (10 mh),an OCFD (20 mh) and a Butternut HF-6V with radials on top of the shed.Unfortunately, stray RF plagued the SunSDR2 causing it to die every 15 mins.Aside from that WQ6X made it work quite well for CW, while N6HEO made the K2 sing nicely on SSB.Considering our location, we did reasonably well, managing to work 22 out of the 24 GOLD RUSH stations. Weekend spent looking for a new Labrador puppy. New 160M antenna still a work in progress and I was surprised to make a 160 QSO on my new 80M dipole.

It seemed that the bands started pretty rough for this one. I started on 20 butwound up taking a break right at the start because no one could hear me and 15was completely dead. 15 finally opened after lunch and I was getting 20 overreports. Never did hear anything on 10, which helped cause a lower score fromlast year. Worked all the Gold Rush stations, they seemed to be the loudest inmost cases. Family commitments shortened operating time on Sunday and I woundup missing three counties. Probably should have tried the new assistedcategory, but I figure only missing three wasn't too bad for an SSB only effortwith no spotting assistance.

Operated remote from Tokyo Japan Operated remote from Tokyo, Japan. Glad to have had the chance to operate in the 1st and 50th CQP. When I operated in the 1st CQP, I never imagined I would have the chance to partcipate in the 50th CQP by remote a continent away.

My KX3, KPA100 and PX3 was all boxed up 2 nights before the contest and mystation computer had NO contest logging software on it. So Friday afternoon Iput the station together and down loaded N1MM plus ( which I have never usedbefore). After several hours of painful attempts to get everything running Iwas able to actually work some stations.....Plus I had/have KPA100 problemswhen it was in the automatic mode.....now to figure out why

Thanks for all of the QSOs... I had to disconnect the antennas for a few hours last night while the lightning storm passed overhead. Lots of rumbling and flashes, fortunately, no damage here.I couldn't believe N0NZ, North Dakota, last night - 55/9 here, I thought that he was my neighbor.Bill, WB6JJJ

Could only operate for a few hours this year because I was scheduled to work the UCLA football game Saturday at the Rose Bowl. Had to be there early and got home very late.

Worked Saturday to make as many Q's as possible - including 44 mults. Then worked Sunday to just add my mults. In about three hours, only found one additional mult! If the other 13 were on the air, they must have been on 146.52 simplex :)Had fun. Lousy weather here, and I'm recovering from being sick. Thanks for the hours of fun.Tim, WK4U

First time I have done CQP from outside California and learned that working California from Yuma, Arizona is extremely difficult on 15 and 20 meters.

First time to try out this contest... it was a lot of fun!!!

I wish I could have stayed on the air Saturday all night. However, the lightning came through and it was all I could do to get everything grounded in time. As it was, I did see St. Elmo's Fire along with the leader for a strike less than a half a mile from me. I had so much fun as always with CQP, I just wish the weather and the solar weather cooperated with my wishes. That is why it is so much fun!!,,, there is always next year. The long wait always stinks though!! 73, WM7Y

Great contest, and got to introduce a brand new ham operator to the thrill of contesting!

First time in the CA QSO Party. Nice format with the CA stations not working other CA's. Propagation was OK, but 20 mtrs for me was a bit of a tough go. Kept checking for a 10 mtr openning, but alas it was not to be. The lonely hours of the AM on 80 mtrs worked surprisingly well. All in all I was trying for the Gold Rush Coin and think I made it. Thanks for the contest, your hard work and a very good time. See you next year.

Hope to see you all next month in SS!
